Our synchrotron x-ray PDF study on chiral multilayer copper sulfide nanoclusters was published in JACS

On June 29, 2026, our paper was published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, titled “Single-Atom Migration into a Chiral Multilayer Nanocluster Architecture”.

Using synchrotron x-ray pair distribution function (PDF) analysis, we traced the local structural evolution during Ag⁺ migration from the surface of a chiral multilayer copper sulfide nanocluster to its center. The PDF results reveal that the Cu−S framework remains stable during migration, while Ag···Cu correlations gradually emerge, indicating a stepwise single-atom migration pathway at the atomic scale.

This work provides local structural evidence for how a rigid inorganic nanocluster framework can maintain structural stability while allowing single cation migration. The article is available at pdf.
